Bushfire!
Christmas is the bushfire danger time in Australia. CMAC's field is set amongst bushland, and the fire season is always a time of worry. The photo above shows the remains of the toilet facilities just a few days before the Club's 1997 Christmas party. The fire razed the bush on three sides, but missed the structures and the shade trees and left a patch of green amidst a swathe of destruction. A working bee quickly had an interim facility in place for the Christmas party, 'cause when you gotta go - you gotta go :) |
